The Veto Lineup
House Republicans took one step toward redemption when Texan Jeb Hensarling announced he's gathered 147 House GOP Members signatures promising to sustain vetoes of spending bills exceeding Bush's budget requests.
That's one more vote than needed to uphold a Presidential veto. It's a big deal if Members keep their word. Democrats will load up bills with earmarks to buy minority votes.
A summer spending showdown would be good for the country and the GOP.
